Welcome to the Church of Bane. I, Lord Enver Gortash, Chosen of Bane, commend you on making such an intelligent decision to join us. I know such a place can seem intimidating, especially once you catch sight of all of Bane's Laws -- but I assure you, our Lord's bark is worse than his bite, and they're much more like "guidelines", anyway.Please be sure you finish your initiation here to avoid any trouble down the road. Interaction Guidelines

...1.... This is not an official/genuine roleplay group, I would like to make that clear. There are no profiles, there are no roleplay applications, there are no official roles. This account began as a silly way to have fun with the Gortash Fans of Bluesky, with no real plot or story behind it. Anyone is welcome to join us, and anyone is welcome to leave. Please do not "gatekeep" our game; the whole thing is about having fun as a fandom community like back in the good old days....2.... There are no moderators. There are no real staff members. It's just me back here doing what I can to ensure everyone has a fun time. With that in mind, I am asking everyone to act as the adults we are and be cordial, polite, empathetic, all that. Use your common sense, block those that upset you. Please don't take the fun away from others because you never matured out of high school....3.... Recently, a Githyanki was killed on the premises. This has left an astral portal open in our courtyard that has allowed a whole manner of individuals from different Baldur's Gates around the multiverse to wander in. What this means is various Dark Urges (and other Tavs/Characters with relations to Gortash) can engage with us without crossing the lines of what I personally have planned, implemented, and headcanonned for Gortash. I did not want people to feel as if they could not play with us, and I likewise did not want people forcing their canons on me....4.... With that in mind: there is one Gortash. And it is me. Suzie cannot burst into our space and insist that Gortash demanded you all wear purple hats. Bobby cannot say that Gortash made him supreme Godking of the world. Even if it is the Gortash from their dimension, they are in my dimension, and thus I am the only Gortash that should be listened to. If any announcements or anything of that nature are to be made, I will be the one to make them....5.... My "staff" have permission to make posts, jokes, ect about things I've "done"; kicked a Banite, gone to a meeting, ect. But I am asking that if it is anything of consequence, anything that is said/done, ect, that you ask me first. You may post "Gortash got mad and dumped his coffee on a Bhaalist", but you may not say things like "Last night I saw Gortash in a brothel with 5 druids and a drow and he was saying he hates cats while in a pink cowboy costume." Likewise I ask you not assume/force any sort of bonds on me (see Rule #3)....6.... Please, please, please keep the chaos under control. I KNOW it can be easy to get swept up into the fun of the moment, but I need you all to remember that since there is no "real" roleplay happening, not everyone is on the same page for what is/is not okay. You cannot cross boundaries or get too rowdy without ensuring the consent of those around you. I do not want any more incidents; I want us all to feel safe and have fun....7.... When I ask for something to stop, especially if my Personal Assistant is mentioned, you stop. This is me calling an end to whatever joke, gag, ect that is happening in the most in-character way possible. I have already done this a handful of times (before the writing of these rules) and it was ignored every time, which led to severe discomfort for my assistant. Please be mindful; if I keep saying "No", or "Stop", in what is very clearly a serious way (not paired with any sort of other commentary, roleplay, ect), then stop....8.... Going to break character a moment for these last three rules, starting with an incredibly important reminder: I am not Gortash, I am a real human being. Some of you have gotten way too comfortable "sexualizing the old man" in my comments. It sometimes makes me uncomfortable. I don't care if you thirst after Gortash, he may even play into it now and again because he finds it funny. But please don't get overly explicit or gross. And again, if he says to stop, then stop. Consent is key, even to fictional tyrants....9.... If you're new to roleplay, or simply need a refresher, here's the basics:
1. Don't Godmod. That means you control you/your character, and no one else's. You cannot make up things having to do with other people's characters without their permission/input. It's considered incredibly bad etiquette and is heavily frowned upon in the roleplay community.
2. Respect. It seems a given, but you'd be surprised. Due to the above rule on Godmodding, some roleplayers (new and old) assume that means they are untouchable. Aka, that they can mock, berate, or otherwise terrorize a character and have no consequences. As someone who has written Villains for 99% of my roleplaying life (20+ years), it is one of the most annoying things you can do. That is a villain -- were this in the game/show/ect in which they're based, you would be dead. Do not expect kindness if you taunt, berate, ect Gortash. In fact, if it's done far too much by any individual, they will find themselves blocked.
3. Common Courtesy. The final thing that I think we need will be a reminder of common courtesy. We won't be doing any "serious" roleplaying, as a reminder. At most, this is just a Baldur's Gate version of The Office and all the shenanigans that go with it. But do remember basic kindness, empathy, ect. Do not do mean things to other people's characters, as more often than not they're a literal stand in for someone. If there are any issues in this regard, please come to me immediately....10.... Last but not least... I am a person. A genuinely very chronically ill person. I probably shouldn't be spearheading such a big thing as this, but the Gortash Community (and the Baldur's Gate community in general) have done so, so much for me. They have given me a home and a place to belong when I had nowhere to go. They have given me some of the best friends and most gut-busting laughs I have ever had. They have carried me when I've suffered and celebrated my victories with me.This community means everything to me. I'm not an artist, I don't create content, I don't stream or cosplay... but this? This is something I can do. This is my way to give back to a community that has carried me through some of the roughest patches; and I'm not the only one. I've seen the amazing things the BG3 community has done, the unending kindness, and all of the incredible shining souls that stood out amongst the bad apples.I want to make you happy. I am here, on this earth, to bring laughter. Gods know we could use a bit of that right now. I want this space to be somewhere you can hop into at the end of a tough day and laugh about whatever shenanigans are going on. I want you to feel safe, held, wanted, and welcomed. I want you to find the kind of home and community that I have.And... ps. If you ever do somehow put together who is behind this account, don't spoil the fun. I want to stay anonymous. I'm not doing this for anything more than the fun of it -- who I am behind the keyboard is unimportant. <3
